Stuttering is an affliction which up to three million American’s struggle with every day.  From avoiding social situations, problems at school or simply a lack of belief and self confidence, therapy is available.  However, many of the more commonly prescribed techniques are ineffective; and worse than this, many actually fail to address the underlying causes and triggers.  Indeed, some would go as far to say they are nothing more than techniques to control the issue; not cure or treat it.

It was following such a process that drove former stutterer Steve Stanley to tackl this lack of real treatment and develop his Stuttering Annihilation Technique.  A work clearly driven by passion, Stanley immersed himself in the works, teachings and commentaries from professionals in the area.  What he found left him a little disillusioned.  He reached the conclusion that these techniques whilst known to be slow, did have results, but rarely offered a cure.

Mark’s problem is actually very common for people, like me, who have been through this whole ordeal.  I remember trying to call random hotels to practise speaking clearly on the phone.  It really is unfair the way people treat you when they observe you stammer.

Now on the one hand, I don’t really think it is necessary to order a product like this speech device to achieve fluency.  I first noticed that I could talk perfectly whenever I got drunk out at the bar with my friends.  It was then that I realized that the main barrier to  success with stuttering treatment  is deal with the psychological causes.
