Hello,

I definitely know what you are going through. I have stuttered ever since I can remember, and although it has weakened my confidence when it comes to conversations, I have learnt to play around with it (by being funny and caring, asking others what they are interested in, and thinking what I'm going to say before I say stuff).

I know suicide my seem like the easy way out, but like others have said before, there is so much to look forward to at such a young age. Whether you believe it or not you will achieve what you set your mind to. Plus if you think you have it bad, think about those poor kids who get meningitis and lose all their limbs.

What you have to realise in life, is that people will like you for who you are as a person. The good people will look past your stutter and attempt to get to know you on a personal level.

My advice for you is write a list of the things you want to do in your life right now. Find out what is required to do those things and get started, one thing at a time. If you want a girlfriend go out and find one. Start talking to every girl you come across. There's no point saying "I'm not going to get a girl because she'll hate me for my stutter". The fact is that you tried, and if you get rejected, it shows you the girl wouldn't be interested anyway. There will be someone out there for you, trust us.

Go out into the world and experience the beauty of it, and remember that there will be people who are there to support you through the tough times and people to share with you, the good times.

Head up buddy, we are here for you.

Take care,

Tommy

Hi. I think I know where you're coming from although at 44 I'm a lot older than you. I've never been comfortable with the way I look although
I have received compliments from time to time. Also, when I was younger I had a bad stuttering problem. I underwent years of speech
therapy when I was in elementary school. For the most part I conquered my stammer, but to this day when I'm under stress it comes
back. I have grown to accept it will always be with me. It shakes my
confidence as well.

It's natural to have thoughts of suicide when you're depressed-there
have been times I have felt the urge myself. But I'm still here and am glad for it-there would have been so many things I would have missed out on if I had taken the easy way out.

I personally have seen the devastating effect a person's suicide can have on those left behind. When I was 29,a person who I grew up with and had been good friends with in high school committed suicide.
I will never forget how his family all huddled together and wept during
the burial,it was a terrible thing to see. The suffering was over for him-I hope-but it was just beginning for those he left behind, especially his
mother. It was a selfish, terrible thing for him to do. After that,I have
never been tempted to do it.

If your lack of education depresses you,you can fix it. There must be a way to get your diploma, maybe home study. After that, you can study
at some college on-line. You do need to get out there and get a job,
don't let your stutter defeat you in life. You can conquer it,although
it will always be there. Be strong, you have more going for you than you think. The important thing is,don't give up,you have your whole life ahead of you. You may find it hard to believe, but I envy you,I would give
anything to be 17 again, and your problems are not insurmountable.

Take care and good luck. I hope things get better for you.

dude you need to get back in school some how and become a functional human and you can take classes for speech impediment (help you stop stuttering) i think the reason you have no girlfriend is because you're not confident and if your not confident woman can sense it and you give an aura of low self esteem but you shouldn't kill your self you may want to see a doctor or psychiatrist and they may want you to take anti-depressants but it will help you. you need to be at more social events and make other friends this well help you so much just by these simple changes

Try looking into GED. There are so many ways of doing this, people do it at every age! This alone can make you feel so much better about your confidence. In your question, I can tell you have all the capability to achieve such a venture. I got my GED, it's just the same as having a high school diploma. I even went to college with it. Think of all the people who had to go through so much before they had the chance to even get one, all the diversity. If you think of all the child abuse and war, poverty, parents on drugs, abandonment, hunger, incest, orphaned, at least you know how to read and write! You really don't have it bad, in that, your parents care about you, and that you're looks are a major factor, speech impediment is not that crucial!, really! Think about the people who cannot go to the doctors for serious medical problems, think about the children dying of cancer, or other serious illness that cannot be cured. You really don't have it that bad. We all have insecurities. Girls and Guys, no matter how beautiful other people might think they are, still think they look like monsters. What if you are gone tomorrow, then your life would have been for naught! You would have not made an impact on, or for your life. Don't you think that you could have possibly made it good somehow, for something, for somebody, or for some animal, or cause? You can do art, you can do something good in some way that will make an impact. So, don't think about just yourself, think about all the other 'ugly ducklings' out there in our history who have really inspired us, and made our world a better one despite all their trials and tribulations they had to overcome. Do us both a favor and look up this person who was born without any arms and legs and now gives us all amazing inspiration of what is possible to really know how to live while we're living. I saw this on 20/20. Life Without Limbs. Hopefully you can see some light in what I'm wanting to enlighten you with. If you're gone tomorrow, then, why not do what you want to do today anyways?! Don't make it other people's world, make it yours. And please, let me know what how you are feeling.
