What Are The Causes Of Stuttering?

General No Comments »

One question that I am asked on a frequent basis is:

What causes people to develop a stutter?

I ask a similar question to the people who contact me with regards to helping them eradicate their speech impediment.

Have you any idea as to why you developed a stutter?

The answers are very varied. The most common is the belief that they think it runs in the family, many people have a parent and also grandparent who also have or had a stutter.

Other causes include:

They developed a stutter in reaction to a major shock, a car crash for example.

They developed a stutter due to a family break up.

They developed a stutter due to an over-aggressive teacher.

They developed a stutter due to bullying.

They developed a stutter due to a mental break down.

They developed a stutter due to a stroke.

There are also those who have absolutely no idea as to why they developed a speech impediment.

I personally preferred to concentrate on finding a cure for stuttering rather than look for the causes of stuttering, that is just me I guess.

Where possible it can be of benefit to find what caused the stutter in the first place however the main focus, in my opinion should be spent on working hard to eliminate the stutter.

Learn How To Stop Stuttering In No Time!

General No Comments »

As a individual that had dealt with a tendency of stuttering nearly my entire life, I understand completely how hard it can be. If you would like to discover how to stop stuttering , then this article is worth reading. The most crucial thing when attempting to learn how to stop stuttering, is to not give up trying to better your ability to speak. Each time you happen to stutter, don’t let it admonish you from speaking. Speaking and conversing with others, is the primary method for you to practice.

If you attempt to keep off talking altogether, because you find yourself feeling too uneasy or abashed of your stuttering, it will only make things harder. The more you practice talking, you will discover yourself feeling more easy and positive. In effect, you will notice you won’t stutter as often.

By forcing myself to talk every chance I found, this helped me learn how to stop stuttering. Here are some other techniques that were of great help to me as well:

1.) Try beginning your day with some peaceful meditation. You don’t have to make this a big deal or anything. See if you can’t find 5-10 minutes to set aside for a brief meditation session. You will find yourself feeling more relaxed and at ease, which will effectively  while talking throughout the day.

2. The next time you want to say something, try taking a deep breath first. Take a second to gather your thoughts mentally before you say it out loud. Quite often, stuttering happens because your mouth is getting ahead of your thought process, and your mind is trying to catch up.

Try and give this a try, it helped me a lot and I’m sure it will help you too.

Tips To Cure Stuttering And Stammering

Are you looking to find tips and tricks to cure stuttering? Are you determined to overcome your stutter once and for all? Is your stutter ruining your life? These are questions which I would have answered in the positive when I was aged twenty-two. I had been stuttering for eighteen years at this stage and had had just about as much as I could take. I was desperate to find a solution to my stuttering problems as I just knew that my life would improve one hundred percent if I could manage to achieve fluency.

I had tried numerous forms of treatments for stuttering including the more traditional forms of speech therapy. These, as you can no doubt tell, were not to prove beneficial and therefore my frustration continued.

Stuttering Treatment Programs That Work

General No Comments »

Stuttering and stammering is a form of speech impediment that is known to affect around one percent of the population. Approximately seventy percent of people who suffer with a stammer/stutter are male. Treatment programs vary in terms of cost, quality and availability. In this article I will be writing about only the best, stuttering therapy programs that work.

So what about speech therapy; is this a form of successful stuttering treatment, yes or no? No. I was one of those unfortunate males that developed a stutter in early childhood. I attended speech therapy for thirteen years, yes thirteen years! Did this therapy prove to be beneficial? No way, the speech impediment actually became even more severe.

Todays Stuttering Cure: How To Stop Stuttering-Stammering

General 4 Comments »

I hope   you find the information here helpful and do please contact me for more details on how I can help you overcome your speech difficulties.

I offer tuition on a one to one basis, a five day course, four hours per day.

I also offer free introductory meetings plus a free after service is available to ensure continued fluency.

For people who are unable to attend a course they are able to purchase a dvd or ebook.

There are further options available for people who, for whatever reason are unable to attend one of the courses.

This allows people to watch thetherapy sessionson their own p.c/laptop/computer via windows media player.

We are writing to thank you for the miraculous change your "One to One"course has made to our 15 year old daughter Katie.

We had taken her to conventional speech therapists for 10 years without success, and understandably we had mixed feelings when we attended your course with Katie .

We were so glad to have an ex-sta mmerer to talk to, who personally understood the problems and frustrations Katie was experiencing.

We would have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone in the same position.

I hold the courses in my own home and always ensure people are made very welcome.

I have recently received a letter from a lady who attended a course nearly a year ago.

In her letter though, she thanked me and said that she could not believe the difference it had made to her life.

She ended the letter by stating that her husband was not very impressed with me.

Like you, I had tried anything and everything to get rid of the problem, from hypnotism to group therapy, without any affect.

Like any newly learnt skill, to maintain proficiency, one must practice, and if there was any danger of backsliding, it is only as a result of my own laziness.

The feeling of relief and freedom from this problem was immense.

I am sure people who have this form of speech impediment will be able to understand how it feels to be in the situations discussed.

During the eighteen years that I had a stutter, I did not want to be mocked, I certainly did not want any form of sympathy, all I wanted was to be treated like the normal personI was.

I was only too aware of the impediment that I had, which is one of the reasons I worked so hard to  .

Stuttering Recovery Treatment Programs

Are you on the look out for available stuttering therapy treatment programs? Have you had enough of living life with a stutter? If you have answered yes to both of these questions then this article may provide you with the information that you are looking for. I am going to be writing about the types of stuttering recovery courses that are available and about their benefits, I hope you enjoy the read.

A large amount of people have a stutter, it is apparently around one in every hundred with the majority of those who have this type of speech impediment being male. I was one such male, my stutter developed when I was a young boy; my parents have told me that I was four years of age when I started to stutter.

As I grew up I only had one real goal in life and that was to achieve fluency, I could not bare the thought of having a stutter for the rest of my life. I was able to fulfil this life long dream at the age of twenty-two when, after a lot of hard work, I was able to overcome the stutter.

During the eighteen years that I had a stutter the only real form of therapy seemingly came in the form of traditional speech therapy. This in my experience was basically worthless and left me very frustrated. Luckily nowadays treatments for stuttering have improved some what. There are now various forms of therapy available including specialist one to one speech courses as well as courses that run on a group basis.
