The latest therapies for stammering
Over the last decade therapies and treatments for stammering have improved in a big way. The days when the only form of treatment was via the local speech and language therapist are well behind us, thankfully!
By far and away the most beneficial and therefore popular of these therapies comes in the form of an intensive speech course for stammering . These are not your typical courses but are what are called "specialist coaching for stammering and stuttering". The main course is held over a five-day period however there are also a weekend and a three-day course available.
During the course the course attendee is taught a set of stammering therapy techniques which will, in time, enable the person to achieve fluency and therefore overcome their stammer. There is no quick fix, unfortunately, and a certain amount of hard work and practice is required to ensure that these techniques become a natural part of their speech. These courses are totally unsuitable for people who are looking for a "magic pill" type of stammering cure as there are no such pills!

Alternative therapies for stammering
It goes without saying that the above stammering therapy classes are not suitable for everybody and there are now a number of self-help stammering treatments available. These include an audio book, a DVD and an e-book.
